Question: I paid my photographer, don’t I own the photograph(s)?
Answer: No. But any or all of the copyright owner’s exclusive rights or any subdivision of those rights may be transferred, but the trans­fer of exclusive rights is not valid unless that transfer is in writing and signed by the owner of the rights conveyed or such owner’s duly authorized agent.

Question: Can I post images i’ve purchased on Social Media?
Answer: Yes, if you agree to the social medias terms of service. Examples are below.

Twitter’s Terms of Service []

You retain your rights to any Content you submit, post or display on or through the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying Content on or through the Services, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display and distribute such Content in any and all media or distribution methods (now known or later developed).

Facebook’s Terms []

you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook (IP License).

Pinterest’s Terms and privacy notice []

a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable, worldwide license to use, display, reproduce, re-pin, modify (e.g., re-format), re-arrange, and distribute your User Content on Pinterest for the purposes of operating and providing the Service(s) to you and to our other Users.

Question: Can I request that you do not use my images?
Answer: No, the reason we use images is to advertise our services or social media, our website, and advertising platforms. No form of your identity is ever shared without express permission.

Question: Can I alter the copyright disclaimer in your contract?
Answer: No.

The Studio/Photographer reserves the right to use images created under this contract for advertising, display, publication or other purposes. The Client signing this contract warrants that he or she has actual authority to agree to the use of the likeness of all persons included in the portrait in this manner and shall indemnify and defend the Studio / Photographer in the event of litigation arising out of such use. Negatives, digital files and previews remain the exclusive property of this Studio/Photographer. 

Question: Where do you use my images?
Answer: If the finished photo fits into our brand then we will post it on social media ( Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Etc ) and our websites and We will use text and hashtags to describe many types of industries, facial features, locations, business, and photo terms that may not pertain to you specifically.
